10K Antique Stacked Hinged Sapphire Ring - Size 6

This antique 10K sapphire ring literally took our breath away and we've never seen anything like it before! It features 5 hinged bands with round dark natural sapphires, each stone expertly cut and set. It is most likely Victorian, c 1835-1900, and during this time hinged rings known as 'harem rings' became popular. Originally from Turkey, these were often wedding rings made of multiple gold rings that fit together perfectly, connected by a thin piece of gold in the back. Sapphires were a popular stone for harem rings because they symbolized commitment, truth and romantic love.
