Stavroula Longer, Ornate Antique Gold-Filled Watch Chain, T-Bar Necklace

The perfect antique gold-filled layer... we love T-bar necklaces- especially when they are as elaborate and ornate as this one!  Often called ' Albert chains,' named after a style of pocket watch chain Prince Albert wore and popularized in the Victorian Era (19th century). Traditionally this style of watch chain has a bar on one end and a Spring ring clasp, used to secure the chain to a vest buttonhole on one end and pocket watch on the other. Sometimes they were very ornate, such as this two strand one with sliding etched mechanisms- all in gold-fill. We added a chain (antique, gold-filled) to make it wearable as a longer layer, connecting at 26". Original dog clip clasp in back.
