The foundation of this quilt comprises vintage Kantha cottons, with fine exquisite hand-stitching and a unique combination of colours and designs. These Kantha quilts are typically 50 to 70 years old, bearing the marks of years of use, wear and patching, which contribute to their individual charm and character.

This particular quilt has been further enhanced with more recent intricate Suzani embroidery, introducing an additional layer of history, colour, and pattern.

The reverse side reveals the back of the embroidery alongside the original vintage quilt. Occasionally, the beauty of the reverse is so wonderful that it deserves to be displayed prominently on the top side.

These quilts serve a multiple purposes, beautifully as bedspreads, sofa throws, curtains or as a cosy blanket to ward off the chill of the Scottish climate. 
Their aesthetic appeal is further enhanced when displayed as wall hangings, as each quilt is a unique work of art in its own right.

Each quilt is unique and individual. Due to the nature of these vintage quilts, some may show marks or repairs. The wear on the Kantha cotton base may reveal varying levels of cotton, which adds depth and character that I truly believe make these quilts just fabulous.

Typically, these quilts consist of 3 to 4 layers of cotton.

For care, hand washing or machine washing on a low, gentle cycle is recommended.
