Output Coupling Modes

The SM-011 introduces two distinct modes of output coupling, a development carried over from the reference MP-S201. This gives the SM-011 a degree of adaptability that is rare at any price point, allowing the amplifier to be optimised to the specific demands of the loudspeakers it is driving — whether that means maximum authority into a low-impedance load or the utmost delicacy with a sensitive, high-impedance design.

Power Supply and Topology

At the heart of each SM-011 is a 1.4kVA custom UI transformer engineered to less than 2% loss — a specification that reflects the uncompromising approach Vitus Audio bring to every stage of signal amplification. A 240,000µF capacitor bank stores sufficient energy to handle the most demanding transient passages without compression or hesitation. The circuit is fully balanced from input to output, and there is zero global negative feedback throughout — a topology that demands exceptional component matching and precision engineering, but delivers a transparency and immediacy that feedback-corrected designs cannot match.

Two Amplification Modes

The SM-011 operates in pure Class A up to 25W into 8Ω — sufficient for the vast majority of listening levels with sensitive loudspeakers — before transitioning seamlessly into Class AB, where it delivers 200W into 8Ω and 400W into 4Ω. This combination of Class A purity and Class AB authority gives the SM-011 an effortless quality in real-world listening that single-mode designs struggle to replicate. The SM-011 does not choose between refinement and power; it refuses to accept that a choice must be made.
