Meridian DSW.2 Digital Active Subwoofer

The DSW.2 is Meridian's freestanding digital active subwoofer — a 12-inch long-throw driver in a downward-firing, tapered cabinet with Class-D amplification and SpeakerLink connectivity. It is designed to integrate with Meridian DSP loudspeaker systems, extending bass performance in two-channel and surround-sound installations where the main speakers need low-frequency support, or where a dedicated LFE channel requires a separate subwoofer.

All connections — SpeakerLink and power — are located at the base of the cabinet, keeping cables out of sight and the visual profile of the unit clean. The tapered cabinet minimises the footprint relative to driver size. The DSW.2 works standalone or in multiples: two or more units can be deployed in larger rooms to increase output and improve low-frequency room integration. Driver and Amplification

A single 12-inch long-throw drive unit with a massive motor system handles low-frequency reproduction. The long-throw design maximises excursion — the distance the cone travels per cycle — which is what produces high output from a subwoofer without distortion or compression at volume. Class-D amplification drives it with high efficiency and low heat.

The tapered cabinet is engineered specifically around this driver — not a generic enclosure but a design matched to the driver's characteristics to extract controlled, accurate bass rather than the loose, one-note output that mismatched subwoofer designs produce.

Connectivity

SpeakerLink (RJ45) input and output at the base of the cabinet integrates the DSW.2 directly into a Meridian system. The SpeakerLink connection carries both audio and control signals — the DSW.2 is managed from the same Meridian control interface as the rest of the system.

Who Is It For?

The DSW.2 is for two-channel and multichannel Meridian systems where additional bass extension is needed beyond what the main DSP loudspeakers provide. It suits smaller rooms where the DSP3200 is the main speaker and bass to below 40Hz is required, and larger rooms where the DSP5200SE or DSP7200SE benefits from dedicated low-frequency support at high output levels. Those requiring an in-wall subwoofer for architectural installations should look at the DSW600.
